‘Complement: the good, the bad, and the -ology’ internal launch campaign
The complement system is made up of 40 different proteins that work alongside the immune system. It’s highly complex, and there are endless technical details, but it is possible to explain it in simple terms. The complement system is basically there to help kill pathogens. But sometimes it goes awry and damages our own healthy tissue. It’s the hidden factor in lots of diseases, including some in neurology for which clever new treatments have been developed. Neurologists may have been taught about the complement system during their studies, but until recently they haven’t had a good reason to think about it again. Now it’s clear the complement system plays a significant role in diseases like Alzheimer’s and myasthenia gravis, and it’s leading to innovative treatments neurologists need to know about.
Grab attention – something ‘new’ coming to the gMG field from Alexion. Alexion staff who may not be familiar with the complement system/cascade and who need to be introduced to how Alexion will talk about it in future projects. The session overall is intended as a whistlestop tour of how Alexion will be framing the complement system within their portfolio in the future. Provide event attendees with Complement-branded items to use both in the session and to takeaway to use afterwards
Develop a non-branded promotional campaign that educates Neurologists on the Complement system, shaping the market for the launch of Ultomiris in gMG in 2024.
